The Rock’s name coming up around WrestleMania is nothing new, and the situation is rarely as simple as whether he is available.
Ringside News can confirm that WWE having an “if The Rock is available” scenario is something that comes up almost every year. That has been the case for the better part of the last decade. The company can map out ideas involving him, but getting those ideas across the finish line is a much bigger process.
The issue is not only The Rock’s schedule. It also comes down to whether he agrees to the creative, the business terms, the timing, and what happens after WrestleMania. Those details matter, especially if the plan involves more than a one-night appearance.
There have been situations in recent years where WWE looked at bringing The Rock back for a larger role, including ideas that involved a title run. Those plans did not happen because both sides could not agree on what the post-WrestleMania direction would look like with The Rock and the championship involved.
That was one of the reasons WWE moved in a different direction and eventually landed on the 2025 John Cena retirement tour. The Rock was ready at one point, but the full deal and long-term plan did not come together.
That is why talk of The Rock possibly being involved with WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia should be viewed through that lens. WWE may want him. Saudi officials may want him. There may even be a major offer on the table. But until the creative, logistics, and terms line up, nothing is locked.
Self Made Pro recently stated that WWE is looking at Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi as an alternate direction if The Rock does not wrestle at WrestleMania 43.
“So I talked to someone in WWE, right? There’s a lot of moving pieces right now and they’re still unclear, at least as far as I’m aware, as far as the people I spoke to are aware, I should say. Right now, if Dwayne’s not doing Mania, then they’re looking to do Oba Femi and Roman at Mania.”
That kind of backup plan makes sense because WWE cannot build a major WrestleMania card around a possibility that may not come together. Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi would give WWE another major match if The Rock does not agree to the full plan.
The key point is that The Rock’s WrestleMania status is not just about whether he can show up. It is about whether all sides can agree on the creative, schedule, match, and aftermath. WWE has been through that process many times before, and history shows that even serious talks can fall apart if the details do not work.
