Following a first-round exit, Swain followed head coach Sean Miller to Texas. In his one season as a Longhorn, Swain averaged 17.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He helped Texas make the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament before they lost.
Following the NCAA Tournament, Swain declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-first round pick.
Dailyn Swain Strengths
Swain has a solid and athletic NBA body for the wing. He is over 6-foot-6 and has added strength to his frame during his college career, with the ability to continue doing so. Swain has good leaping ability for his size, helping him finish, rebound and defend. Swain has decent foot quickness for his size and can get to a nice top speed in the open floor.
He is a skilled driver who can finish in the paint better than most players of his size. Swain doesn’t have the most wiggle to create his own shot, but he uses his length and strength to help create openings to get into the paint. Once he is in the paint, he can finish over defenders, big and small alike. Adding strength can only help this area of his game as he continues to grow.
While he isn’t a point guard, he played on-ball enough to show some potential as a creator. He averaged 3.6 assists per game this past season, which was a number he improved every year in college. When his drive is stopped, he is able to find an open man for a layup or a three-pointer pretty frequently. When he doesn’t get sped up, he sees the floor clearly and can make the right play to get his team more quality shots.
Dailyn Swain Weaknesses
Swain improved his shot during his college career, but needs to keep improving his percentages and volume of shots to be trusted. There may be some tweaks to his shooting motion coming, as it could be quicker and smoother. Right now he is a reliable scorer at the rim, but will likely not be up to par with mid-range and deep shooting compared to others in the class.
While he can create for others, creating space for himself off the dribble is tough for him. He can get to the basket by powering through contact and hitting angles, but doesn’t have many moves to free himself on the perimeter. Swain can also tighten up his handles to limit his turnovers and help him get to his spots quicker.
His length helps him guard multiple positions, but he can sometimes struggle to stay in front of smaller, quicker players. Swain needs to get low and slide his feet to stay in front instead of just relying on his length. If he is able to do that, his versatility on the defensive side of the floor can be a real asset to a team.
