Toronto Blue Jays rookie catcher Brandon Valenzuela continues to demonstrate why he deserves to remain on the roster when Alejandro Kirk returns from the injured list.
Aside from being a defensive standout behind the plate, he’s been a key run producer, and he hit his sixth home run of the season on Friday. In the Blue Jays’ 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, he went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
Also, in his last seven games, he’s been productive, compiling a .273 batting average with three walks, four RBI, two home runs and six hits.
At the end of the day, he’s performed better than Tyler Heineman and has proved why he deserves to stay in the big leagues when Kirk comes back.
