In the forthcoming three-match Test tour of Pakistan which commences in Multan on October 7, Joe Root will be in action for England. The right-handed batter who is aged 33 was on fire with the bat for the Poms in the two red-ball tours held against the West Indies and Sri Lanka in the third quarter of the year 2024, and he will be looking to carry the same form in the away series against Pakistan.

1st batter to score 5000 runs in WTC: Root, who is the all-time leading run scorer in the World Test Championship, needs 27 runs in the Test series against Pakistan to create history and become the first batter in the world to score 5000 runs in WTC. So far, he has a total of 4973 runs in 58 matches played to this date.
The record for most catches in test: Root so far has 201 catches to his credit in 146 Test Matches played for England scaling ten more in the coming three Tests will see him eclipsing the former Indian captain Rahul Dravid’s tally of 210 catches making him the highest caugther in Test cricket where currently he occupies the third spot. The former Indian cricketer has 210 catches to his credit who is ranked as the best, while Mahela Jayawardene, the former captain of Sri Lanka has 205 catches to his credit standing at number two.
Besides the above mentioned records, Root who has scored 1398 runs in 16 matches of the WTC 2023-25 will also become the first player in the World to have scored at least 1500 runs in all the three editions of the WTC provided he scores 102 runs in the Test series with Pakistan.
