WWE Money in the Bank was moved to a new date, and now there is more context on why the change happened. The 2026 event was originally set for Sunday, September 6, but WWE has now pushed it back to Saturday, October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
WWE announced the move in conjunction with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and Legends Global. The company confirmed that the event will still take place in New Orleans, but one month later than first announced.
Fightful Select noted that it had been hinting at a possible date change for a while, including on recent Q&A and Select Answers posts. According to the update, WWE sources claimed the move was made because of a scheduling matter involving broadcast partners.
The change was not something WWE threw together at the last second either. The move had reportedly been planned for well over a month and was already known by several people within the company.
There was also another factor tied to the original September date. City officials told Fightful on background that there were things connected to New Orleans during early September that would have driven up prices for attendees. That was on top of Labor Day weekend travel, which likely would have made the trip more expensive for fans.
So the date change appears to come down to two main things: broadcast partner scheduling and travel-related cost concerns around the original Labor Day weekend slot.
Money in the Bank remains one of WWE’s biggest annual events, with Superstars battling in ladder matches for a briefcase containing a contract for a championship match that can be cashed in anytime within the next year.
