Premier League clubs total points accumulated since January 2022 tells you so much

Which Premier League clubs have picked up the most points in recent seasons?

I have looked back across recent seasons and totalled up the numbers.

The period covered is January 2022 onwards.

So four and a half seasons added up.

There have been 14 Premier League clubs that have been in the top tier for all of the most recent five seasons.

So these are the points totals for each of them, across their last 171 Premier League matches.

Premier League Accumulation Table (Since Jan 2022)

Total points accumulated from the last 171 Premier League matches. Best viewed in landscape mode on mobile.

Pos Club Matches Points
1 Manchester City 171 375
2 Arsenal 171 366
3 Liverpool 171 344
4 Newcastle United 171 284
5 Aston Villa 171 283
6 Manchester United 171 275
7 Chelsea 171 261
8 Brighton 171 248
9 Tottenham 171 238
10 Brentford 171 230
11 Crystal Palace 171 217
12 West Ham 171 199
13 Everton 171 193
14 Wolves 171 172

I don’t think anybody will be surprised by the top three, way out ahead of the rest across these last four and a half seasons.

Manchester City just edging out Arsenal by nine points, then Liverpool another 22 points behind the Gunners.

I know that there is an endless debate amongst Newcastle United fans about Eddie Howe.

My own opinion on why I think he should for sure be given the chance to lead Newcastle United once again into another season is based on the above.

Winning the Carabao Cup was an unbelievable day in March 2025 and the fact Eddie Howe and his Newcastle squad had to beat the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal (twice), Chelsea, Forest, Brentford (and Wimbledon) only made the achievement even more special.

The overall record in knockout competitions, domestic and Champions League, is also good to very good.

However, to have put together these performances across four and a half years in the Premier League, across 171 matches from January 2022 onwards, for me it would be a huge mistake not to give Eddie Howe the chance to bounce back in the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

It hasn’t been a case of a one season wonder and then a bad (Premier League) season.

To have outperformed clubs such as Man U, Spurs and Chelsea across four and a half years isn’t a fluke.

There are no guarantees with any manager and Eddie Howe knows he has to be successful next season, I reckon he has earnt the right to have that chance.
