Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of former Ole Miss and Jackson State football player Idarrious “D.D.” Bowie, according to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 6 p.m. on June 5 at a residence in the 100 block of Adams Road in northern Rankin County.
According to investigators, a disturbance at the residence escalated into gunfire, leaving Bowie, 27, of Lena, Mississippi, with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders with Pafford EMS transported Bowie to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities said investigators immediately secured the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. During the investigation, deputies recovered a firearm and learned that several occupants had fled the area in a small gray passenger vehicle.
The sheriff’s office identified Bowie as a graduate of Morton High School and a former collegiate football player at both Ole Miss and Jackson State University.
Bowie was one of Mississippi’s most highly regarded high school football prospects. A former four-star wide receiver, MHSAA Mr. Football 3A winner, and Dandy Dozen selection, he played a key role in Morton High School’s success as both a quarterback and wide receiver. After originally signing with Ole Miss as one of the state’s top recruits, Bowie left the program in 2018 for personal reasons before continuing his football career at Northeast Mississippi Community College and later Jackson State University.
Within hours of the shooting, investigators arrested 18-year-old Ladarious Harrison and 19-year-old Dominic Sanabria, charging both with murder.
Authorities later arrested Semiko Crump, 46, Kaylee Trimble, 18, and Michael Jerome Mitchell, 19. All three were charged with accessory after the fact.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
