This June, gamers were showcased all kinds of brand-new titles during the Summer Games Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, and the PlayStation State of Play. The only thing missing from this lineup was a brand new Nintendo Direct, and that’s exactly what’s on the way. On June 9th, Nintendo is promising gamers 50 minutes of announcements, trailers, and teasers of their biggest and upcoming titles. Gamers can only begin to imagine what kind of games are in store as they make their own Nintendo Direct 2026 predictions. Here’s everything you need to know before showtime.
Nintendo Direct Predictions
Pokemon Wind and Waves
Within this past year alone, there have been many leaks and rumors surrounding the next installments of Pokemon games. First, we have Pokemon Wind/Waves. In October of 2025 Game Freak’s current and upcoming projects that were in development were leaked online. One of those leaks revealed that Gamefreak intends to mix Open World and MMO features within the title. This game is said to possess a new in-game engine called the “Pokemon X” engine, and players will be able to explore various islands in an open world as well as travel underwater.
Project Seed
Part of the 2025 “Terra Leak” Project seed is a Pokemon MMO that is allegedly currently in development. What we know so far is that the MMO will feature at least 5 different regions for players to explore. Those following regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh & Kitakami. All of these regions will be interconnected and will share the same world.
Pokopia DLC
With Pokopia dropping this past March, a lot of gamers are predicting that during the Nintendo Direct, Pokopia is bound to receive additional DLC. Most are speculating that the game could potentially implement some sort of underwater exploration mechanic, while some would even settle for new customization items, like new building blocks, items, or even additional legendary habitat options.
Personally, I’m sure we’ll be hearing some sort of Pokemon news during this 2026 Nintendo Direct, but the real question is which of these titles will hog the limelight, or will they all be sharing the same stage?
Star Fox
With the game already announced and set to release on June 25, we can already speculate that some gameplay footage of the new Starfox remake is to be expected. We could be seeing additional footage from the in-game story mode or maybe some online 8-player gameplay.
Ocarina Of Time Remake
In this day and age of gaming, remakes are becoming increasingly common. With that being said, it would not be surprising to see Nintendo showcase a trailer for a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Especially if they save it for the show’s final presentation. Again, evidence of this is purely speculation. I will add that it’s the series 40th anniversary, there have been two Ocarina of Time-themed Lego sets released recently, and again, companies love doing remakes and remasters these days.
Splatoon Raiders
The single-player Splatoon was already announced to release on July 23, where players play as a mechanic working with Deep Cut to explore the new location of the Spirhalite Islands. One can only expect a story or multiplayer coop trailer, maybe some sneak peeks at character customization.
Luigi Mansion 4
Since the launch of the Super Mario Galaxy movie, there have been rumors not only of a Luigi’s Mansion movie potentially in the works but also of alleged talks of a new Luigi Amiibo. The Amiibo that could potentially be used for Luigi’s Mansion 4. There’s little info to back up this claim, but it wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo announced a movie, an Amiibo, or even an anticipated sequel during a Nintendo Direct.
When Does The Nintendo Direct Start
The Nintendo Direct will be showcased on the official Nintendo YouTube channel. The direct is said to be at least 90 minutes long and will begin June 9 at 7 am PT / 10 am ET.
