The India National Cricket Team has been forced to make a big change ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. The senior fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will not be part of either tour after being advised to take rest by the BCCI medical team.

He was recently part of India’s historic one-innings and 300-run win over Afghanistan in the one-off Test in New Chandigarh. During this match, Mohammed Siraj had an intense fight with Rahmat Shah. However, the fiery paceman scalped only one wicket but conceded only 40 runs in his 13 overs.

BCCI rests Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna gets surprise recall for Ireland and England series

On Tuesday, June 9, the BCCI announced to rest Mohammed Siraj from the upcoming T20I series in England and Ireland after discussions between the India national cricket team management and medical staff. BCCI made this call after receiving update on Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma.

Siraj has been given a break as a precautionary measure to manage his workload, allowing the pace-setter enough time to recover before the packed international schedule.

After deciding to avoid any risk with Siraj, the Indian selectors have named Prasidh Krishna as his replacement in India’s T20I squad for both the Ireland and England series.

The BCCI said in an official media release: “Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India’s squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Prasidh Krishna as Siraj’s replacement for both T20I series.”

Here’s India’s updated T20I squad for Ireland and England tours:

Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (VC), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prasidh Krishna.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna now has a big opportunity to make his mark for India after being named as Mohammed Siraj’s replacement for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. Both Prasidh and Siraj were part of India’s recent one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj dominate IPL 2026 but have different T20I journey

Both fast bowlers recently played a key role in the Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2026 finals journey. While Siraj played all 17 matches for the franchise and finished the season with 19 wickets, Prasidh has taken 16 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 10.44 and an average of 25.44.

However, Prasidh has played only five T20I matches for India, and that too only in 2023, so this is a big opportunity for him to leave his mark. Earlier this year, he surprisingly missed out on a place in India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad despite winning the Purple Cap last IPL 2025 season.

However, Siraj was part of India’s 2026 T20 World Cup-winning squad. He has so far played 17 T20Is for India and managed 17 wickets at an average of 28.29 and economy rate of 7.75.
