PlayStation has unveiled cinematic horror game sequel Until Dawn 2 for PS5, but will the game head over to Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, or PC? GameWatcher heads to an abandoned tropical island to find out.
The long-awaited sequel to Until Dawn is coming in 2027, and it will whisk us away from the bitter cold of the Blackwood Mountains and onto the shores of a tropical island to spend time with Neil Newbon and Dacre Montgomery (there might be something evil there, too, but no biggie).
While it’s being created by Horizon: Call of the Mountain developer Firesprite instead of the original game developer Supermassive (doing pretty well, churning out games like it anyway), the core aspects of Until Dawn are still there.
So choices have consequences, anyone can die, and there are all sorts of interpersonal drama to contend with before you even begin to worry about the death and dismemberment.
The cinematic blockbuster horror nature of the game will no doubt have caught the eye of horror fans on all platforms, but will Until Dawn 2 get a release on Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC as well as PS5?
Until Dawn 2 Multiplatform Status – Will it be on Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 or PC?
At present, the only confirmed platform for Until Dawn 2 is PS5, which is understandable given it’s PlayStation’s IP.
Does that mean we’re not getting Until Dawn 2 on other consoles or PC? Well, the remake of Until Dawn did get a PC release in 2024, so the series does have previous on other formats, but as for other consoles, PlayStation has been far less generous in handing over its treats, so it seems pretty unlikely we’ll get Until Dawn 2 on Xbox Series X/S or Switch 2. Never say never, though!
So if Until Dawn 2 could show up anywhere other than PS5, PC seems the likeliest destination, but certainly not until at least a year after it launches on PS5.
There is the issue of PlayStation reportedly keeping its exclusives from PC going forward, so hopes of Until Dawn 2 on PC may be far slimmer than they were for the first game.
