Mercedes Moné Fires Back at Pregnancy and AEW Exit Rumors During Six-Month Absence

Mercedes Moné is finally addressing the rumors that exploded during her six-month absence from AEW.

Moné made her return on the June 3, 2026 edition of AEW Dynamite as the mystery wild card in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. She wasted no time making an impact, defeating Alex Windsor via submission in her first AEW match of the year.

However, the biggest story now may be what Moné had to say about the speculation that followed her while she was away from television. Writing in her Moné Mag, Moné directly addressed the many rumors that circulated during her absence, including claims that she was pregnant, having contract issues, or preparing to leave AEW. Moné explained that her time away was simply a chance to rest after years of nonstop wrestling.

“I’m back and I feel better than ever. Almost 6 months away. I’ve never had a break that long that wasn’t due to injury and after 16 years it was the first time I got to truly relax and have no worries.”

While she enjoyed the time off, Moné admitted there was one thing she quickly realized: “But one thing I realized during that time away? I missed wrestling so much. Especially that AEW.” She then turned her attention to the countless rumors that spread online while she was gone.

“While I was gone I saw all the rumors. ‘Oh she’s pregnant.’ ‘Oh contract issues.’ ‘Oh she’s leaving.’ ‘Oh this.’ ‘Oh that.’ Oh… NOTHING.”

Moné made it clear that there was no hidden drama behind her absence and questioned why fans felt the need to speculate so heavily about her personal life. She also took a shot at wrestling fans for constantly trying to predict what is going to happen next instead of simply enjoying the product as it unfolds.

“Can I enjoy my vacation in peace? Can a woman have a period and be bloated? Can I enjoy my time off without speculation and rumors? One thing I also learned is there’s nobody more impatient than wrestling fans. Y’all are the type of people who look up the ending of a movie before finishing it. You love not being surprised. You love not being present and fully in the moment because you’re so caught up in the fantasy.”

Moné’s comments provide the clearest explanation yet for her absence from AEW. Rather than injuries, contract disputes, or an impending departure, she says she simply took the longest non-injury-related break of her wrestling career and used the time to recharge.

Now back in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, the CEO of AEW is definitely ready to move past the rumors and focus on getting back to business inside the ring.

What do you think about Mercedes Moné’s response to the rumors surrounding her AEW absence? Do you think fans sometimes go too far with speculation about wrestlers’ personal lives? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
