One Of America’s Greatest XC Racers

Twenty years ago, Adam Craig was one of America’s top XC racers. From 2004 through 2012, he finished among the top three in the Men’s XC ranks seven times. He placed third in the U.S. in 2005, 2011, and 2012. He placed second in the years 2004 and 2009, and he won the national title in 2007 and 2008. He also raced in the Olympics in 2008.

After living in Bend, Oregon, for a number of years when he was racing bikes full time, Adam is now back in Maine where he grew up, along with his wife Annie and their young son, Theo, who can be seen below at one of the bike trails at Sugarloaf Mountain Bike Park, where Adam has been building the trail network.

Here are a couple of recent photos he shared on his Instagram page of the trails at Sugarloaf Mountain that he has been working on:

Adam is definitely not lazy. He was building his own house in Maine in 2023, as seen above, in another Instagram post that he shared.

Here’s a photo that Adam shot of himself with his wife, Annie, in front of the house he was building for them in November of 2023:

According to the website teamusa.com:

  • In 2007, Adam won the Single Speed Mountain Bike World Championships in Aviemore, Scotland. The event isn’t recognized by the international federation, so instead of a rainbow jersey and a gold medal, Adam received the customary winner’s prize…a commemorative tattoo.
  • Adam and fellow mountain bike pro Carl Decker won the 2007 overall two-wheel drive Northwest Region Championship in rally car racing.
