As the India vs Pakistan World Cup match was being played in Dubai on October 6, 2022, Indian men’s team fast-bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah was seen supporting the Women In Blue. The presence of Bumrah, who had been a pivotal player in the Indian campaign during the T20 World Cup earlier held that year, gave even more significance to the match since it was an elimination clash with opponents India’s fiercest rival.
Considered as one of the elite players when it comes to fast bowling, Bumrah came out to cheer for captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s side at the Dubai International Stadium. It was during this match that India registered a rather slow yet comfortable 6 wickets win over their counterparts, Pakistan.
In terms of bowling, shreyanka Patil and Arundhati Reddy were the leading bowlers, giving little to the Pakistan batting order and controlling the score well. Still, in the batting department, it was somewhat less impressive, as it was a battle of two teams with little to no high scoring games.
Harmanpreet Kaur stood up to the occasion and played a tumultuous knock of 29 runs assisted from 24 balls before retiring hurt. Meanwhile, Shefali Verma also played her part scoring a firm 32 runs from 25 balls although her strike rate was a bit worrisome considering the demand for faster scoring in the game.
Having successfully attained victory, India currently sits at the 4th position in their group with a net run rate of -1.217. The outfit will have to look out for results of other games within the group to assess their chances of progressing to the semi-final stage. Even though the chip on their shoulder has gotten larger with this win, challenges lie ahead for the team led by Harmanpreet as they seek to fulfil the T20 World Cup ambitions.
