Kevin Owens’ wife, Karina Elias, has now called out Cathy Kelley after she mentioned Owens’ son during a recent interview.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Kelley explained how her friendship with Kevin Owens gradually developed. She said their bond grew naturally because Owens has a similar sense of humor to her family, which made it easy for her to connect with him.
“Um, I want to say it just gradually grew over time—he has a lot of the same humor that my family has, and so you just end up gravitating towards people that get that.”
Kelley then brought up her recent autism diagnosis and said Owens had been supportive during that time. She claimed Owens understood the situation because of his son: “But yeah, he’s been super supportive, especially since the diagnosis, since he knows so much about it because of his son.”
That comment led to a response from Owens’ wife, Karina Elias. In a now-deleted Instagram Story, Karina made it clear she was upset that Kelley had mentioned her child in a public interview. She said she normally avoids drama, but felt she had to speak up because the comment involved her son.
“AS SOMEONE WHO ACTIVELY TRIES TO STAY OUT OF DRAMA, WHEN IT COMES TO MY CHILD I HAVE TO SPEAK UP. RECENTLY @CATHYKELLEY MENTIONED MY SON IN AN INTERVIEW. WHY SHE WOULD CHOOSE TO TALK ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE’S CHILD’S MEDICAL HISTORY IS BEYOND ME.”
Karina then directly disputed Kelley’s claim and said she works hard to keep her family private. She also stated that no one had consented to her child being discussed publicly. Karina made it clear she was frustrated that she even had to address the situation at all.
“WHAT SHE SAID ISN’T TRUE. I DO MY BEST TO KEEP MY FAMILY PRIVATE. AS A PROTECTIVE MOTHER IT REALLY ANGERS ME WHEN SOMEONE TAKES IT UPON THEMSELVES TO TALK ABOUT MY CHILDREN ON A PUBLIC PLATFORM, WITHOUT MY/KEVIN’S/THEIR CONSENT. THE FACT I NEED TO COME OUT AND CLEAR THIS UP IS SO RIDICULOUS.”
This is now less about Cathy Kelley’s friendship with Kevin Owens and more about where the line gets drawn when someone’s family is brought into a public interview. Karina Elias clearly felt that line was crossed, and her message made one thing obvious: when it comes to her children, privacy is not up for debate.
