As previously reported, NJPW announced on May 27th that its parent company, Bushiroad, had transferred all its shares to TV Asahi and CyberAgent. Both companies now hold an equal stake in NJPW, each owning 46.3%. The Japan-based promotion will operate as a “consolidated subsidiary” of TV Asahi, with support from CyberAgent.
A new report from the Japanese publication Weekly Gendai indicates that Bushiroad has been considering selling NJPW since 2025, feeling that it had reached the limits of profit generation from the wrestling promotion. The report also mentions that in February 2026, Bushiroad approached NJPW’s longtime broadcasting partner, TV Asahi, which already owned a 22.7% stake in the company. According to a source from TV Asahi, the company responded positively to the proposal but felt limited in its capabilities, prompting the inclusion of CyberAgent in the arrangement.
CyberAgent owns Pro Wrestling NOAH, DDT Pro Wrestling, and Tokyo Joshi Pro through its subsidiary CyberFight. The publication noted that CyberAgent sees wrestling as having the greatest potential for overseas expansion.
