As you may know, yours truly has spent a two-week vacation in Japan. Besides doing a cultural tour, the goal was to buy caps of the Yomiuri Giants and the Orix Buffaloes. Much to my surprise, these Japanese caps were of a much better quality. You may wonder why.
The first realization that the caps in Japan are of a much better quality came with the acquisition of two Yomiuri Giants caps. As written before, unlike their American counterparts, those two Japanese caps have a much better shape, fit like a glove, and the lid is sewn on in the center.

One thing becomes clear when you check the labels of the caps: They are made in China, but under auspices of New Era Japan. Not New Era Cap Co. And of course that makes the difference. It is clear that New Era Japan has a much higher standard than New Era Cap Co. It shows that their caps are (near) perfect.
The second cap I bought was the one of the Orix Buffaloes. All I can say about this specimen is that the quality is great again. The same as with the Yomiuri Giants caps: fits like a glove, great shape, lid right in the center. New Era Cap Co, on the other hand, has bulky caps, size issues, bad shaped caps, and lids sewn on off-centered.

When you look to the poor quality of caps made by/for New Era Cap Co., you can only see that all that counts for that company is making money. They don’t care about the quality of the product they make. Why else did they move the production of their caps to Bangladesh, Vietnam and similar countries?
I am not the only one complaining about the quality of the caps of New Era Cap Co. Please go to and you will see a lot more blog posts about the poor quality of those caps.
