Oshae Jones vs. Elia Carranza 2 live results update

Oshae Jones vs. Elia Carranza 2 recap

Oshae Jones (9-0-1, 3 KOs) and Elia Carranza (11-2-1, 3 KOs) could not be separated after 10 rounds.

One judge had it 96-94 for Jones with another having it the same for Carranza. The third judge saw it 95-95. Jones remains the IBF super welterweight world champion with the result.

Both women stood at range of each other and opted to throw their punches from that distance early on. Jones utilized the entirety of the ring, making the challenger come towards her. Although she threw more punches than Carranza, she was only slightly more accurate than the challenger.

Things very nearly went out of control on a couple of occasions. In some of the earlier rounds, both fighters came close to throwing shots after the bell had rung. The referee was able to keep things under control on those occasions and did not have to deduct any points for the duration of the fight.

Compared to bouts that had taken place earlier in the night, the punch output for Jones-Carranza 2 was relatively lower. Neither was able to dominate for an extended stretch. Jones appeared to have done slightly more in the end, but would ultimately have to settle for a draw.

Tiara Brown vs. Hannah Rapp recap

Tiara Brown (21-0, 11 KOs) put in a dominant showing against Hannah Rapp (8-1-1, 5 KOs), winning a unanimous decision.

Scores were 99-91 (x2) and 97-93. Brown remains the WBC featherweight world champion with the victory. She won the title in March last year against Skye Nicholson. This was Brown’s second defence.

Both women showed a willingness to fight on the inside early on. Rapp’s aggression helped her earlier on, but Brown soon took over. The challenger was definitely throwing a lot of punches, but many were landing on the gloves. What never changed, however, was both fighter’s willingness to be aggressive, even if it meant things got messy on the inside.

Brown continued to outwork her opponent as the fight progressed. Despite some early success, Rapp was now unable to find a way to get the upper hand. She was cut by the right eye in round eight from an accidental clash of heads. Although the fight was briefly paused in the tenth so that a ringside physician could examine the eye, Rapp made it to the final bell. Unfortunately for her, Brown’s dominance ensured that the reigning champion retained her title.

Jasmine Artiga vs. Nataly Delgado recap

Nataly Delgado (21-7-2, 5 KOs) travelled to the home state of Jasmine Artiga (15-1-1, 7 KOs) and won a unanimous decision.

Scores were 97-93 across the board. Delgado is now the WBA super flyweight world champion with the victory. This is her first time winning a world title.

The early rounds were competitive with both women staying at range of each other. Little separated the two for the duration of the bout. Artiga tried to utilize as much of the ring as she could. Delgado consistently pressed forward, but her opponent avoided getting dragged into a fight on the inside.

An overhand right bloodied the left eye of Artiga in round seven, but it appeared to have little impact on her fighting style. Delgado continued to fight aggressively, likely convincing the judges that she was doing the better work. Although it was difficult to separate the two fighters after 10 rounds, the Panamanian ultimately got the nod and is now a world champion.

Evelin Bermúdez vs. Estefany Alegria recap

Estefany Alegria (15-1, 4 KOs) overwhelmed Evelin Bermúdez (22-2-1, 8 KOs) in a unanimous decision victory.

Scores were 100-90 and 99-91 (x2). Alegria is now the IBF, WBA, and WBO light flyweight world champion with the win. This is her first time winning a world title of any kind.

The opening round was a busy one with the two women landing at a high rate. Alegria was on the front foot and mostly kept her opponent moving along the periphery of the ring. The frantic pace continued into subsequent rounds and Bermúdez appeared to be struggling with it.

Alegria never slowed and continued to overwhelm the reigning champion. Her ability to cut off the ring greatly helped her in this fight. Bermúdez appeared to have no solution for what she was facing. Alegria continued to fire away with all kinds of punches to the head and body. There was a period where Bermúdez appeared to have figured out how to land her counters, but that was short-lived. Alegria’s constant pressure ultimately secured her the win.
