Daniel Cormier may have set off the biggest mess before UFC Freedom 250 even started.
Cormier appeared to post and delete screenshots that allegedly showed Eric Trump messaging him before the White House UFC event. The alleged exchange was not just casual fight talk either. The screenshots appeared to show Trump asking about betting, fighter injuries, and whether any fights were rigged. Cormier’s deleted caption made it clear he was not treating this like some harmless DM.
“I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent. The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.”
The alleged messages started friendly enough, with Eric Trump saying he would be attending UFC 250 and saw Cormier was casting the event. Cormier responded that he was excited to meet him and his family. Then the tone changed fast. The account allegedly asked Cormier what he could say about the fighters and who he had winning.
“Anything you can tell me about the fighters tomorrow? Who you got winning?”
Cormier appeared to dodge that by saying he liked to stay unbiased, but liked watching Bo Nickal fight. The alleged conversation then got even messier when the account asked if Cormier was placing bets. Cormier responded that he was not allowed to bet on any cards. Then came the injury question.
“Are any of the fighters injured that you know of?”
Cormier’s response showed he clearly knew that was a weird question to ask.
“I’m not quite sure why youre asking me this but i think theyre all in good shape..”
Then came the line that turned the whole thing nuclear. The account allegedly asked if any of the fights were rigged and brought up the Lopes fight as a possible upset play.
“I’ll just cut to the chase. Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged? I’ve been eyeing the Lopes fight and I think an upset wouldn’t be too unrealistic. $$”
Cormier fired back hard in the alleged exchange.
“No none of our fights rigged and honestly I am appalled that you would even ask me something like that.”
The post did not stay up long, but the internet already grabbed screenshots. As of this writing, there has been no public confirmation that the messages were authentic, and neither Cormier nor Eric Trump has fully explained what happened.
Either way, this is the last kind of controversy UFC wanted around a White House event. A card like UFC Freedom 250 was already going to get attention, but alleged messages about betting, injuries, and rigged fights took the story into a whole different lane.
