TNA may not have wasted any time figuring out who is steering the ship after Tommy Dreamer’s exit.
Following news that Dreamer is out as TNA’s head of creative, a new report from PWInsider states that the current belief is Delirious will take over as the lead creative voice moving forward. While additional names could still be brought onto the team, Delirious is said to be the point person right now.
That makes him the immediate replacement for Dreamer. The update answers one of the biggest questions coming out of Dreamer’s departure. While there had already been talk about possible outside candidates, including Road Dogg after his WWE departure earlier this year, it appears TNA is keeping things in-house for now.
Delirious is hardly a newcomer to the position. He was already working alongside Dreamer behind the scenes and has extensive experience in wrestling creative from his years with Ring of Honor before joining TNA.
The timing is significant because Dreamer’s departure came just weeks before Slammiversary, one of TNA’s biggest events of the year. Some people within the company expected Dreamer’s exit was coming, but believed it would happen after the pay-per-view rather than before it.
Dreamer had become one of the most influential people in TNA behind the scenes. In addition to serving as head of creative, he also worked heavily in talent relations and was involved in many aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations.
His departure also comes during a period of major change for TNA. Tessa Blanchard recently secured her release from the company, while Steve Maclin and Myla Grace also exited in recent weeks.
Now the focus shifts to Delirious, who appears set to become the leading creative voice as TNA heads toward Slammiversary and beyond.
