Paul Wight is not just talking about getting back in the ring — he looks like he is putting in serious work to make it happen.
Wight recently made it clear he is not chasing some perfect retirement match or big storybook ending. He said he might not even get that kind of farewell, and he is fine with it. His focus is simply getting himself into a place where he can compete again for fun and enjoy whatever time he has left in AEW.
Now he is showing the receipts. Wight took to Instagram and posted a gym photo showing off a massive body transformation. The former Big Show looked noticeably leaner and jacked as he flexed, making it clear the comeback talk is not just talk.
“Starting to see real results. Today is better than yesterday. I’m on my way to being a super model! Jokes aside grateful to be able to push myself this hard after 11 surgeries. 💪😎#gym#cardio#diet#beastly”
That last part is what makes the post stand out. Wight has put his body through a ridiculous amount over the years, and he openly noted that this progress is coming after 11 surgeries. For a man who has already done everything from world title runs to massive main-event moments, this stage of his career is clearly about proving something to himself.
It also lines up with what he previously told Chris Van Vliet. Wight said he is not delusional about chasing championships or carrying a company anymore. Those days are done. What he wants now is to have fun in the ring, help younger talent, and enjoy the years he still has left under contract with AEW.
“I know there is a big current thing where everybody wants to write their story, which I am so sick of hearing. Not everybody gets a story. I may not get a story. I may not get a retirement match. I am very real about this. I have to do certain things and hold myself accountable to get to a position so that I can compete for fun, for no other reason other than I want to have fun in the ring.”
So, Paul Wight may not be chasing a grand retirement match, but he is definitely not sitting at home either. After 11 surgeries, he is back in the gym, looking sharper than he has in years, and clearly trying to give himself one more real run on his own terms.
