Are the New Jersey Devils Primed to Make a Move?

New Jersey Devils RFA Dman Simon Nemec drawing interest

Kevin Weekes: Sources are saying that New Jersey Devils pending UFA defenseman Simon Nemec is getting interest.

“… it hasn’t been the smoothest path / usage with @NJDevils , and he’s an attractive option given age, talent, upside, should it be decided that they want to move him.

Are the New Jersey Devils Primed to Make a Move?

Russ Cohen of Sportsology.com and NHLDraftBuzz.com was on Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Under Review Segment on Tuesday and was asked who he could see making a move from the Metro Division. He mentions the New Jersey Devils could move Dougie Hamilton, and could maybe see Jacob Markstrom moving in a goalie swap.

NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Nico Hischier, Center Market

Host: “Russ Cohen with us a couple more minutes here, a lot going on. It’s the view from Russ’s House we’re calling the show now. Under review on the porch there, no, he was at the presser today with the Flyers here on Under Review.

Okay, so yeah, they were tied for second with the Penguins. They beat them. Carolina is the class of the Metropolitan, not only just won the Cup, but they were the class in the regular season. There’s a 15-point differential between them and the two Pennsylvania teams. Who do you see from the Met making a move next year? Is Washington ready to get back into this?”

Cohen: “Either Washington or New Jersey. Okay, okay, I think Sunny Meta could do good things in New Jersey. I think if they can move out Dougie Hamilton and get somebody else in there.

NHL Rumors: Devils, Canadiens, Islanders, and the Ducks

Host: “Markstrom! The Markstrom rumors?”

Cohen: “Yeah, the Markstrom rumors are interesting. That seems like it would be a goalie swap with somebody else, right? I think that’s because I don’t think they have another goalie that, like, Jake Allen is not the guy, and I don’t think their other goalie is the guy.

So I think that would be a goalie swap where somebody else likes Markstrom better than you, and you get again, maybe Florida can’t sign Bob (Sergei Bobrovsky), maybe they get the rights to Bob, and they sign him and Florida gets Markstrom. Who knows?”
