Nic Nemeth Says TNA Backstage Morale Has Been “A Little Weird”

Nic Nemeth is not pretending everything is perfect in TNA right now.

TNA has been hit with a wave of departures this week, including Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan. Dreamer was part of the creative team and had been with the company for years, while Callihan had been working behind the scenes after stepping away from in-ring competition. Now Nemeth is giving his view from inside the locker room, and he is being careful, but he is not acting like nothing changed.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Nemeth said he does not know every detail behind the exits, and he does not want to run with secondhand locker room gossip. Still, he admitted the vibe backstage has shifted.

“The locker room is such a huge aspect. It’s what got me to sign on to TNA, and I thought we were in a really good place, but the last couple of months, it has been a little weird backstage and it’s been different.”

That is the line that stands out. Nemeth is not torching the company, but he is also not selling fans some fake sunshine story. TNA got its TV deal, morale was high, and then things started feeling different. He also made it clear that Tommy Dreamer leaving hurts. Nemeth said Dreamer was more than just a creative guy. He was someone people leaned on, someone talent constantly reached out to, and someone who understood wrestlers and what they could bring to the table.

“Tommy not being with us hurts, but going forward, we can pick up with our talent and possibly some surprises at the pay-per-view, and people coming on board.”

Nemeth also said people should not assume every departure means the sky is falling. Several contracts were coming up this summer, and he said talent leaving is not automatically some insane disaster. At the same time, he did not insult anyone’s intelligence either.

“There will be real stories that I’m sure there was an issue because you don’t just separate ways with someone if there’s not some kind of issue.”

That is about as honest as he could be without lighting the place on fire. Nemeth said the locker room is still tight, but it is not at its peak right now. That matters because TNA is heading toward Slammiversary while creative is changing, talent is leaving, and people are waiting to see what the next version of the company looks like. TNA may still have a strong locker room, but Nemeth made one thing clear: the mood is not what it was a few months ago.
