WWE’s Stance on Road Dogg Possibly Joining TNA Creative Team

Road Dogg may not be taking Tommy Dreamer’s exact seat in TNA, but his name is definitely in the mix, and now we know what WWE thinks about him possibly working in TNA.

TNA has been moving fast after Dreamer’s exit as head of creative. It was reported that Delirious is currently expected to become the lead creative voice, keeping things in-house as the company heads toward Slammiversary, while it was also noted that Road Dogg is being considered as Dreamer’s possible replacement.

But according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brian James has also been talking with TNA officials. The interesting part is that people knew discussions were happening, but not everyone knew what role he was being considered for.

“It was known that Brian James and TNA officials were talking, but nobody knew it was Dreamer’s position he was going to take, only that he would be added to the team.”

That makes the situation a little less simple than Road Dogg just replacing Dreamer outright. Delirious may be the point person, but TNA could still add more voices to the creative team, and Road Dogg is one name that has been discussed.

Meltzer also noted that someone in WWE had a pretty positive read on what Road Dogg could bring to TNA. The source described him as a fundamentals-first booker and said his energy with talent could help the product.

“One person in WWE noted to me that James was a ‘very fundamentals style booker, which would do that product a lot of good. He’s enthusiastic when he deals with talent, which is also a positive.’”

So, TNA might be changing creative leadership, but it may not be stopping with one move. Dreamer is gone, Delirious appears to be stepping up, and Road Dogg could still end up being added to the room if things line up.

At the end of the day, WWE apparently sees Road Dogg as someone who could help TNA tighten things up creatively. Whether he actually lands there remains to be seen, but his name being connected to TNA right now is not going away.
