Rinku Singh reveals Coach and captain’s mantra for team India’s Template in T 20 format

The aggressive Rinku Singh stated that the head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav have let the Indian players play on the pitch without inhibition and being natural within the boundaries of their style with the focus on the attack.

Once again, Rinku batted at No 5 and scored 53 runs off 29 balls while sharing a crucial 108 runs partnership off 49 balls with Reddy (74) and helping India to, yet again, triumph over Bangladesh by 86 runs in the 2nd T20I match held here on Wednesday.

“The coach and captain have told us to do our game and in any circumstance (is) the other way from them is maarte jao ball ko (keep hitting the ball),” Rinku said during the presser after helping the team claim a 2-0 advantage in the series.

“(The) coach has asked us to back ourselves and play your game. He has given us full freedom to hit the ball.” Said Rinku who trained under Gambhir during his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

Rinku, who has more often than not found himself batting towards ending stages, was called into action in the sixth over on Wednesday after India were reduced to 41/3 inside the powerplay.

The dashing batter from UP had also given an insight into his strategy. “At the position I play, I get batting at different junctures of the game. Whenever I get batting earlier, my aim is to take singles and doubles and attack the bad balls,” he said.

“When I come to bat with 2-3 overs left, my aim is to hit more fours and sixes. My main aim is to collect more and more runs for the team.”

He confessed that the ball did not come on the bat properly at the start.

As the match began, the ball wasn’t properly coming on to the bat. After Sanju (Samson) and Surya bhai got out, Reddy told me that ball phass rahi hai (the ball is sticking on the wicket).

“I batted in that manner and then after some time the wicket became a little bit better. We were saying that we need to get a (good) partnership first and then get the momentum. In the beginning, we were taking singles and then Reddy started hitting sixes and the momentum changed.” The all-rounder from UP who wil play the Ranji Trophy next, envisions playing in all three formats. “I do see myself as an all format player, wherever I get the opportunity I will play,” he said.

The third and final T20I will be played in Hyderabad on Saturday
