Josh Hokit’s Michelle Obama comment is still getting him heat, and now D-Von Dudley is jumping in.
While speaking on the Duke Loves Rasslin podcast, D-Von reacted to Hokit calling Michelle Obama a man after his UFC Freedom 250 win over Derrick Lewis. Duke didn’t hold back while describing how ugly the comment was, and D-Von made it clear he saw no respect in it: “There’s no respect.”
Duke then gave Dana White credit for distancing himself from the comment, while also saying Donald Trump should have addressed it since the event happened at the White House.
“No respect. And Dana White, to credit to him, he immediately was mortified and expressed that that was unacceptable… Shame on Trump for not putting out a statement… He should have said something about that.”
D-Von still couldn’t wrap his head around the Michelle Obama shot: “Michelle Obama a man, why?” Duke called the comment disgraceful and said Hokit took an event meant to help MMA look more mainstream and dragged it into nonsense.
“Because these are low-class people, bro. These are low-class humanoid idiots… it’s disgraceful that this guy would take an event that is trying to further mainstream and bring credibility to the sport and just ruin it by saying something so ridiculous.”
That’s when D-Von made his bigger point. He said even if Hokit really believes what he said, that does not mean it needed to be said publicly. D-Von added that if someone made that kind of remark about Hokit’s family, he probably would not take it so lightly.
“I mean, regardless if that’s how he really feels, that’s your opinion. Stop. You know, and that’s this is what I mean. People don’t realize, you know. You say things that are hurtful and mindful. Listen, if somebody said that about somebody in his family, he’d be ready to beat him up. He’d be ready to beat him up, but now you think it’s okay to say that because why? You know, it doesn’t make any sense, man.”
The comments come after Titus O’Neil also tore into the situation on Instagram. Titus said his defense of Michelle Obama was not about politics, but about basic decency. He also praised Michelle and Barack Obama for carrying themselves with grace and class, then called out the kind of entitled mindset that lets people think they can say hurtful things without consequences.
“This is definitely not a political post. It’s more about being a decent human being. Hatred, bigotry and racism have never been things that unite us. DECENCY, Love of fellow human beings and Good life choices should be the barometer to start.”
Hokit’s win over Derrick Lewis was supposed to be his big moment, especially after walking into UFC Freedom 250 with a Hulk Hogan-style patriotic presentation. Instead, the Michelle Obama remark took over the conversation.
Dana White has already distanced himself from the comment, Titus O’Neil blasted it, and now D-Von Dudley is saying what a lot of people are thinking: if Hokit would not accept that kind of insult toward his own family, he should not be throwing it at someone else.
