Gerry Cardinale is stepping up his involvement in AC Milan’s affairs, with the RedBird owner set to travel to Rome on Monday to represent the club at the FIGC’s electoral assembly, a deliberate signal of his intention to be more present in Italian football following a turbulent season that ended without Champions League qualification.

According to SportMediaset, via CalcioMercato, Cardinale will attend the assembly at the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria Hotel on June 22, where the two candidates for the FIGC presidency, Giancarlo Abete and Giovanni Malagò, will go head to head, with new federal councillors also elected on the same day.

Cardinale accelerates sporting director search as Milan rebuild gathers momentum

The Rome trip is part of a broader shift in approach from the American owner, who attended Milan’s final two matches of the season, the away game at Genoa and the home defeat to Cagliari, in a show of solidarity following the club’s disappointing campaign.

Having already confirmed Ruben Amorim as head coach, Cardinale is now accelerating the search for a sporting director and technical director to complete the new leadership structure at Via Aldo Rossi.
