Americas Flavor as Toulouse and Montpellier Win Top 14 Semi Finals

Domingo Miotti played a significant role in Montpellier’s Semi Final victory over Stade Français Paris in Marseilles on Saturday. The player from Northern Argentina provided an assist for Montpellier’s only try in the 25-15 win.

Miotti converted the try and went on to score a personal haul of 17 points. He successfully landed five penalties in addition to converting the aforementioned try. Miotti started at fly half for Montpellier and was joined by Pumas center Justo Piccardo. The USA was also notably represented with Jack Iscaro starting at loose head prop for the Parisians.

Miotti is a Puma in waiting. Despite having been capped previously and the longevity of his career abroad, seldom has Miotti had opportunities with Los Pumas. He is yet to play under Felipe Contepomi. This ought to change based on his form and the needs of the team. Juan Cruz Mallía and Benjamin Elizalde are injured, suggesting little upcoming fly half activity for Santiago Carreras and Gerónimo Prisciantelli who both cover fullback.

Montpellier will face Toulouse in the Top 14 Final. Toulouse crushed Racing 92 with a 71-17 victory, also in Marseilles. The outcome meant both Parisian teams missed out on appearing in the 2026 Top 14 Final in Paris.

Players from both east and west of the Andes were involved in the Semi Final. Santiago Chocobares started at inside center for Toulouse and his Pumas teammate, Efraín Elías was a replacement forward. Chile’s Diego Escobar was Racing 92’s replacement hooker.

There was also North American involvement with David Ainu’u featuring for Toulouse as the team’s replacement loose head prop.
