Backstage News On Liv Morgan’s Injury Scare

Liv Morgan provided a scare at a WWE live event over the weekend, and Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez weighed in on the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio.

The Women’s World Champion was working a house show in Birmingham, England, as part of WWE’s European tour when the incident occurred. Morgan retained her title in a fatal four-way match against IYO SKY, Lyra Valkyria, and Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca, but a spot late in the bout raised concerns. Ruca came off the top with a cross body and appeared to land awkwardly on the champion.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer and Alvarez noted the contact may not have been as bad as it first looked. While initial reactions suggested Ruca had landed on Morgan’s knee, Meltzer said it appeared the landing caught Morgan closer to her foot. Morgan went down, and the referee immediately checked on her. “The referee did raise the one fist, which signals that Liv was okay,” Meltzer noted, adding that while Morgan “was limping a little,” she finished her spots and completed the match.

Morgan is scheduled to appear on this week’s Raw from London alongside IYO SKY to build toward their Queen of the Ring tournament final. If she is not moving well during that segment, it would be a sign that the injury is more serious.

Morgan herself moved to ease concerns shortly after the event, posting on social media that she was fine and on her way to London. She booked her spot in the Queen of the Ring final by defeating an injured Charlotte Flair in the semifinals on the most recent SmackDown. Morgan is set to face IYO SKY in the final at Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, all while continuing to hold the Women’s World Championship.
