Drew McIntyre’s WWE return is looking even less likely anytime soon because his Hollywood schedule just knocked him out of another major appearance.
According to PWInsider, McIntyre has been pulled from Fanatics Fest in New York City due to filming commitments for The Last Druid. The event is scheduled for July 16 and Friday, July 17, 2026, but Drew apparently won’t be there.
That lines up with the recent word that McIntyre is not expected back for SummerSlam. During a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro said the current word is that the Scottish Warrior will not return for WWE’s Biggest Party of the Summer.
“The word now is that he will not be back for SummerSlam.”
Instead of preparing for a WWE comeback, McIntyre has been busy building his film résumé. He joined Russell Crowe’s upcoming action movie The Last Druid, which is filming in Spain and also stars Stacy Clausen, Pablo Derqui, and Tennyson Crowe.
The project puts Crowe back in Roman Empire territory, with the story following a Roman Emperor who discovers a hidden Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. Crowe plays a peaceful Celtic elder forced to fight for his family and people.
Drew also recently worked with Crowe on Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot, so this isn’t looking like a quick side quest. His acting schedule is clearly taking real time, and Fanatics Fest is now another sign that WWE fans may have to wait longer to see him back.
Bottom line, McIntyre has been away from WWE television since WrestleMania 42, and his calendar is still pointing toward movie sets instead of wrestling rings. With Fanatics Fest off the table and SummerSlam reportedly unlikely, Drew’s comeback does not appear close.
