Yan Diomande agrees personal terms to join Liverpool as PSG walk away

Last summer’s £450m spending spree looked like a one-off at the time. Michael Edwards has a reputation for bargain deals rather than splashing the cash, but Liverpool finally handed him the license to change that.

So, Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike all arrived. The Reds’ attack, on paper, had been transformed. But the reality is that they’re still waiting for the fruits of their labour and it eventually came at a cost for Arne Slot.

Iraola will require pace if he is to tune up the band and play the heavy metal football that Anfield has been crying out for, and Liverpool look destined to provide exactly that.

This time last summer, the Reds spent big to welcome one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga in Wirtz. Now, 12 months on, they could be about to do the same.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Yan Diomande and are now waiting to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig.

The Ivory Coast winger has reportedly said yes to a summer move, forcing Paris Saint-Germain to drop out of the race altogether in another major boost for those at Anfield.

There now remains one final hurdle for Liverpool to clear. Having seen their first offer worth around €100m (£86m) rejected, Edwards must go again as Leipzig potentially seek around €120m (£104m) to get a deal over the line.
