The Atlanta Hawks have selected guard Kingston Flemings with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Flemings, a freshman out of Houston, emerged as an immediate leader for the Houston Cougars and helped guide them to a Sweet Sixteen berth in this year’s NCAA Tournament. He adapted quickly to the collegiate level, averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 38.7% from 3-point range.
Flemings possesses many of the traits teams look for in a modern point guard. He can run an offense, create scoring opportunities for himself and others, and has the athleticism to make an impact on both ends of the floor.
Similar to Darius Acuff Jr., Flemings is on the smaller side for an NBA point guard and will have to prove he can handle the size and physicality of the league.
Flemings joins a talented Hawks roster that gave the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks problems in the playoffs. He will enter a guard room featuring CJ McCollum and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
