A 5-year-old Lawrence boy and three members of his family were killed in a fire at a short-term rental property in the Dominican Republic earlier this month, Lawrence Mayor Brian DePeña confirmed Tuesday.
The fire broke out in the city of Barahona around 4:30 a.m. on June 13, according to Dominican news outlet Listin Diario. The boy became trapped in the building amid the blaze and died at the scene.
