Joey Janela is going scorched earth on Bully Ray over a flaming table spot that he says left him badly burned and abandoned afterward.
The spot happened at GCW Fight Club 2024 during the War Games match, where Bully Ray and Matt Cardona put Janela through a flaming table. Now Janela says Bully soaked the table with too much lighter fluid, did not wait for it to burn off, and then never even checked on him after he ended up needing medical attention.
“I’ll never forgive that fat fucking loser for absolutely completely dosing a table in 2 bottles of lighter fluid, and not waiting for it to dissipate giving me nearly 3rd degree burns on my body and not checking in once with me afterwards. Even laughed a little bit when I told him I was going to the hospital ‘you’re going to the hospital?’ As the skin bubbled up on my body.”
Janela made it clear he is not blaming Matt Cardona the same way, saying Cardona actually felt bad and followed up with him after the match.
“Matt Cardona on the other hand felt truly terrible checked in on me every day, and it wasn’t even his gimmick.”
Bully Ray fired back hard, claiming Janela begged for the spot, brought the lighter fluid and lamp oil himself, and wore a shirt he had been warned not to wear. Bully also said he was not even supposed to be on the show and was added less than 24 hours before the event.
“You BEGGED…LITERALLY BEGGED me to do it…you know it and all the boys know it. I said ‘no’ 2x …. You STILL begged. You wore a flammable shirt that you were told by others not to wear. You’re trash and a liar. And ya fkn know it. Also…ya fkn moron…I was never booked for that show. I was an EXTREMELY LAST MINUTE replacement added not even 24hrs prior because someone could not make it. The first person I saw was you….you brought me lighter fluid and lamp oil. And then begged. And then cried Bitch.”
Janela denied that version, saying the shirt never caught fire and that the burns came from lighter fluid on his skin. He said he did not beg for the spot and only agreed because Cardona told him Bully had done it before and would keep him safe.
“Lmfao the only thing that didn’t catch fire was the shirt, the shirt was completely intact afterwards. It was the lighter fluid on my skin, such a corny fat fucking liar you are. I didn’t BEG to do a flaming table spot, that was the spot in mind when they booked you, Matt Cardona said you’d keep me safe and he did it twice. You never said ‘No’ I wasn’t begging to do flaming table spots in 2024, I did it because I thought it would be fine since you’ve done it so many times.”
Janela then added that he had to be taken to a hospital in Atlantic City before being sent to a burn unit in Philadelphia because the burns were too severe. He said doctors wanted to keep him there for days, but he left early so he could appear for GCW the next day.
“Had a young wrestler Justin Finn take to the hospital in AC, when they said the burns were too bad for them to handle they sent me to a burn unit in Philadelphia. In which they wanted to keep me there for days, but I left early to make it to GCW the next day to cut a promo because at the end of the day I’m a worker.”
Janela said this might not have gone public if Bully had simply checked in once.
“You never checked in on me once, at least shot me a message or a text asking me how I was doing because you absolutely knew how bad those burns were. If you sent me once message, I wouldn’t be doing this publicly on social media right now.”
Justin Finn showed photos of the burns, and recounted the events.
“Only part of Joey’s back that was ‘not’ burnt was where the shirt was covering & watching the video back, the shirt never caught fire, only his arms. Guy didn’t even want to go to the hospital, but his skin was falling off and bubbling/oozing. Didn’t complain once the entire time,” he wrote.
So now the flaming table spot has turned into a nasty public fight. Janela says Bully was careless, left him burned, and never followed up. Bully says Janela begged for the whole thing and is lying about how it happened.
