Bully Ray was recently the source of drama due to comments about Jon Moxley and Josh Barnett, but did the Hall of Famer have an ulterior motive?
After Ray said he could easily beat up Moxley, his comments sparked a fiery response from Barnett, and the pair would verbally spar over social media.
More recently, Bully and Joey Janela have been going at it on social media, over a dangerous table spot from GCW Fight Club 2024.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestling Observer Radio” podcast, however, Dave Meltzer claimed Ray had a motive for picking fights this week. He said,
“The whole thing, obviously, it was Bully trying to get heat off Tommy Dreamer by creating a different controversy and that’s it. I think Josh probably didn’t even know that and just thought that Bully was being a dick and challenged him to a fight… There’s no more analysis that you need to do. Just somebody looking for attention.”
Bully’s antics came after multiple female wrestlers spoke up about Dreamer, recalling situations where the ECW alum had made them uncomfortable.
One wrestler claimed that Dreamer said they’d do what they could so they wouldn’t succeed in the pro-wrestling industry.
Another said that they had felt pressured into a spanking spot Dreamer insisted on that she felt she couldn’t say no to due to him being a veteran.
