ESPN NBA reporter Tim Bontemps is reportedly in advanced discussions to leave the network and join the Hawks’ front office.

According to reports, Bontemps would take on a basketball operations role within Atlanta’s organization, working under general manager Onsi Saleh as part of the team’s front-office staff.

Bontemps has covered the NBA for ESPN since 2018 after previous stops at the Washington Post and New York Post.

He is also widely known as one of the regular contributors on The Hoop Collective podcast alongside Brian Windhorst and Tim MacMahon.

If the move is finalized, Bontemps would become the latest prominent NBA journalist to transition into a front-office position.

Similar moves have been made by figures such as Kevin Pelton, Lee Jenkins, and John Hollinger, who all left media roles to work for professional basketball organizations.

The potential departure would come less than two years after Bontemps signed a contract extension with ESPN in November 2024.
