Tony Schiavone has no interest in a big sendoff when his time comes, and he did not dance around it.
During What Happened When, Conrad Thompson brought up a recent Cody Rhodes interview where Cody talked about how he wanted his funeral to go down. Conrad explained that Cody’s idea was inspired by a DC comic scene, with wrestlers showing up in full gimmick, Cody being buried in his American Nightmare robe, and the whole thing feeling like a superhero-style celebration of life. Schiavone admitted the idea would definitely get attention, both inside and outside the wrestling world.
“That is certainly unique. It’ll be memorable and obviously it would end up getting a lot of coverage.”
Then Tony flipped the conversation to himself. When Conrad asked what he wanted for his own funeral, Schiavone made it clear he does not want one at all.
“I’ve thought about my funeral. You know what I’m going to do?”
Conrad joked that it would be the greatest funeral in the history of wrestling, but Tony immediately shut that down.
“No, there will be no funeral.”
Schiavone then explained that he does not want people gathering around after he dies. He wants to vanish quietly, without any public production or memorial circus.
“There will be no funeral. You will not know when I die. I’ll just all of a sudden disappear. That’s how I want it.”
That answer is pure Tony. No grandstanding, no dramatic speech, no fake emotional moment. Just a blunt answer from someone who has spent decades in front of wrestling fans and apparently wants none of that attention when his life is over.
Of course, Conrad could not let the moment stay serious for too long. He joked that he would start a podcast with “Matt Shirvani” the next week, while Tony said he was fine with that. The conversation then spun into jokes about hearses, ambulances, and backing into driveways, but the main point was clear: Tony Schiavone does not want a funeral.
