Eddie Hearn urges Johnny Fisher to take Dana White offer

Eddie Hearn urges Johnny Fisher to take Dana White offer

Eddie Hearn admits he won’t be matching Zuffa Boxing’s offer to sign heavyweight Johnny Fisher.

Fisher has been with Hearn’s Matchroom since turning professional in 2021.

However, ‘The Romford Bull’ revealed he was out of contract with the Essex promoter and had received an astronomical offer from Dana White’s Zuffa.

Fisher, who claimed the offer was six or seven times higher than Matchroom’s said he was waiting to see whether Hearn was going to match the deal.

However, the Matchroom Chairman has urged him to take the deal after revealing he would not be matching it.

“Walk, swim or crawl to the Zuffa office as quickly as you can and sign that contract,” Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans.

“That’s my advice to Johnny Fisher.

“I love Johnny, I love the family.

“The biggest problem is the level of opposition that he wants to fight, my offer was less than a sixth of what they offered, because no one wants to watch that kind of fight and no one wants to buy a ticket for that kind of fight, so it has a value.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity for Johnny Fisher and he’s got to take that with both hands.

“If the Zuffa offer was half of what it was, I wouldn’t have matched.”

The 27-year-old bounced back from a fifth round stoppage defeat to Dave Allen in their rematch to halt Ivan Balaz in four rounds in December.

Should Fisher join White’s stable, it’ll be the second prominent name to switch from Matchroom to Zuffa after Conor Benn’s shock move earlier this year.

Hearn had a public spat with Benn after their acrimonious split occurred without a conversation between the pair.

The 47-year-old though says he has no ill-feeling towards Fisher.

“I’m pleased for Johnny honestly,” he added.

“Because boxing’s a tough sport.

“He’s done it the right way. He’s come to see me, we’ve had a chat.

“Where he wanted to go was different to what I wanted to do with him and if he can make that kind of money for those kind of fights, hurry up, drive there now and sign that contract and we wish him all the best.”
