Brandi Rhodes may not be back on WWE television right now, but the idea is not completely dead. Cody Rhodes says there have been talks about bringing her into things again.
Rhodes discussed Brandi’s possible WWE involvement during an interview with Ariel Helwani, who asked if there have been serious talks about getting her involved in an angle since Cody returned to the company. Cody said the conversations have happened, but he described them as semi-serious.
“I think people talk about it. I’d say semi-serious talks about her being brought back for things here and there.”
Cody explained that because his WWE character is rooted in who he really is, bringing real-life pieces of his world into the story can make strong television. Cody also said Brandi had to grow up fast in wrestling because of what she went through in the business. Because of that, he wants any WWE moment she has now to remind her how good wrestling fans can be.
“We saw Mama Rhodes get included in things from time to time. When you bring real elements of your life, and my character is really rooted in a real person, that always makes for great television. Sometimes it can get a little too real.”
“I think Brandi grew up very fast because of the nature of her experience in the wrestling business. I always try to make those moments for her, when she does come back, a reminder of how great the wrestling fans can be, because it’s easy to forget how wonderful they can be.”
Cody then pointed to WrestleMania 40 as the type of moment he wanted Brandi around for. She walked out with him during one of the biggest nights of his career, right before WWE entered a new era under Triple H.
“The last time we saw her was WrestleMania 40, just to be able to walk out there with me and own it before the company goes into the stratosphere, and then this new era begins, this Triple H era begins. With me and the position I was in, those are the type of moments I want her to be around.”
Cody made it clear he would support Brandi if she wanted to do something in WWE again. That said, her focus right now is not wrestling.
“I certainly wouldn’t be opposed if she ever wanted to do something on her own or break into it, but she’s got that kids store in Roswell and that’s all she talks about. We talk about Pinkerton’s kids boutique far more than we talk about me wrestling Gunther in Sheffield, England. That’s something she’s passionate about.”
That is the real status of Brandi Rhodes and WWE right now. The idea has been talked about, Cody is not against it, and WWE clearly knows how much real-life family moments can add to his story.
Still, Cody made it sound like Brandi is busy building something outside the ring. If she comes back, it will likely be because she wants to, not because Cody is dragging her into the chaos.
