Despite Max Holloway being his dream fight, AJ McKee thinks Conor McGregor might take it at UFC 329

Max Holloway represents a dream fight for many, and while AJ McKee exists within this context, it seems like he’s not completely confident that ‘Blessed’ wins his next contest. Holloway will take on the biggest star in the history of the sport, Conor McGregor, in a long-awaited rematch set to transpire in July at UFC 329.

McKee has his own high-stakes bout as the former Bellator MMA champ prepares to clash with the unbeaten Salamat Isbulaev in the headline attraction of PFL San Diego on June 27th. Referencing a prior interview where ‘The Mercenary’ mentioned Max Holloway as his dream fight someday, when asked for his thoughts on that rematch between McGregor and Holloway, which is set to transpire in the coming weeks, McKee said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

[Max has] been through so many wars, so many battles. [Max] Holloway’s one of the most elite strikers I’ve seen within the mixed martial arts game. That’s why I’ve always loved his style. I’m rooting for Holloway all the way, but I think [Conor] McGregor might take it.”

Max Holloway will get sonned again at UFC 329, per McGregor

Max Holloway will be on the former side of the ‘repeat or revenge’ trope that lingers over rematches in combat sports, according to his adversary, Conor McGregor. Despite being out of competition for half a decade, the trademark confidence of the Irishman has seemingly remained unwavering, as McGregor stated in an interview with Paramount+,

“I sonned Max when I fought him last. I plan on doing the same again in most devastating fashion.”

The first fight that the two had transpired in 2013, before either had carved out the massive legacies in the sport that they each have in the present-day. The bout was a co-main event with Conor McGregor and Max Holloway throwing down at UFC Fight Night 26. ‘The Notorious’ swept all of the scorecards of the assigned judges, with a unanimous decision being dealt out with McGregor besting Holloway after the former tore his ACL.
