Harmanpreet Kaur dropped the easiest of catches of Tahila McGrath on the third delivery of the 12th over off Radha Yadav’s bowling. India’s catching hasn’t been ideal throughout the tournament, and the list just keeps getting longer, with the captain being the latest culprit.
Radha bowled a tossed-up delivery on the off-stump line, and Tahila came down the track, trying to access over the covers. However, she didn’t get the elevation, and the ball flew straight to the fielder, Harmanpreet.
While it was at an ideal height, Harmanpreet threw her hands hard towards the ball, and just before she could close her hands, the ball popped out of her hands in a flash. Probably Harmanpreet didn’t expect the ball to come that quickly, and the ball came earlier than anticipated, which led to a catch drop.
Still, there was no reason to drop the catch, for such chances are very much gettable at this level and should be grabbed, especially against a strong team like Australia. The fielders around her couldn’t believe it, for the captain had to set high standards for others.
