Jordan Ayew: I will keep playing for Ghana until my time is up

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has declared he has no intention of retiring from international football anytime soon, vowing to represent the Black Stars for as long as he remains physically capable of performing at the highest level.Speaking to FIFA, the 34-year-old forward reflected on his extensive international career, describing it as a highly demanding yet rewarding experience.”As long as I can perform and help the country and the team, I will always be there because it’s been a tough journey, a very, very enjoyable one,” Ayew stated.”I’ve had hard times and good times. I’ll keep on doing it until my time is up.”The veteran attacker, currently leading Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasized that he still feels in peak physical condition. He noted that he evaluates his career day by day rather than setting a definitive end date, trusting his body to signal when it is time to step away.Ayews commitment comes at a historic milestone, as he recently became Ghanas oldest player to feature at a FIFA World Cup.He also joined a select group of Ghanaian football icons to play in three separate editions of the global tournament. He is also Ghanas most capped player, recently overtaking his brother Andre Ayew.Despite public debates regarding a transition to younger players, Ayew remains an indispensable figure for the national team.
