Mick Foley has been around the wrestling business for decades, and Mercedes Mone clearly left a big impression on him.
Mercedes is back in the Owen Hart Cup finals after winning the tournament last year. That win got her a shot at Toni Storm and the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In, but she didn’t get the job done. Now she has another shot to win the whole thing again in 2026. If Mercedes wins the Owen Hart Cup, she’ll move on to All In 2026 and get another chance to become AEW Women’s World Champion.
During AEW’s Countdown show for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Foley made it clear that Mercedes is not just another name on the roster. He said he has rarely seen anyone in wrestling want it as badly as she does.
“I can tell you in all my years, I don’t believe I have ever met someone as driven to be the best as Mercedes, and in AEW, there’s one way to prove that you’re the best, and that’s to win the AEW World Championship. And trust me, once you have the World Championship, you want it worse than ever.”
That is a huge statement coming from Foley. He has seen legends, champions, and locker room leaders up close, so calling out Mercedes like that says a lot.
Mercedes already came close last year, but close doesn’t get the title around your waist. This time, she has a chance to win the Owen Hart Cup again and finally finish the job at All In. Mercedes Mone has made it clear she wants to be at the top of AEW. Foley believes that drive is real, and now she has another chance to prove it when the spotlight is on her.
