Skenes Greatness Continues – Diamond Notes by Joe Boesch

Paul Skenes continues his quest as one of the best pitchers in the game at such a young age. He reached a career milestone, being the fastest Pirate to notch 500 K’s in his career. For his feat, he has his own Topps Now card, which summarizes his career like this:

Paul Skenes collected a personal achievement in Pittsburgh’s series against Cincinnati. Catching Reds star Elly De La Cruz looking on a called strike in the fourth inning, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner became the fastest in Pirates history to reach 500 career punchouts (72 games). Finishing with seven on the day, Skenes passed Bob Veale to reach the milestone.

Until then, see you at the park.
