WWE taped this Friday’s SmackDown at the the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Monday evening after Raw went off the air.

-The show opened with Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn coming out to a mixed reaction. He talked about being booed the past 6 months, and called the fans hypocrites for wanting to see him as champion before. He then said he won’t tell those hypocrites to kiss his a– because he is a good guy, and won the title the right way.
-Cody eventually came out and Sami asked Cody what he wants to talk about. Cody then said he wanted to be the first to congratulate Sami and they both shook hands. Cody wanted to leave and Sami asked was that it. Sami told Cody he has what Cody wants.
-Jey Uso then came out to congratulate Sami as well. Jey said he is proud of Sami and that he is here to give Sami a warning shot and that he needs to bring the title back to the family. Cody interrupted Jey and asked him when did his friend all of a sudden become an errand boy for Roman. Sami then cut Cody off and told him it is his time and to Jey, as far as he is concerned, its in the family. He told both of them to stay away. Adam Pearce then came out as the acting GM for SmackDown and said his job is to find a challenger for Sami. Sami then asked if he has a say in his opponent for SummerSlam. Pearce replied, who said anything about Summerslam and that its Jey vs Cody tonight, with the winner facing Sami Monday on Raw.
-Cathy Kelley interviewed Charlotte backstage, who spoke about Jade. Alexa Bliss came in as teased tension between them, which led to Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea into the mix to discuss their 6 women tag team match.
-Jade, Michin and B Fab defeated Charlotte, Chelsea Greene and Tiffany Stratton when Jade pinned Chelsea after hitting her with her Jaded finish. Chelsea got a big pop with the hot tag and put in a great effort.
-A replay was shown with the scuffle between Gunther and Nick Aldis at Night of Champions. Sami tried to convince Adam Pearce to reverse his decision about defending his title on Raw, which didn’t work. He then went over to Johnny Gargano for his latest solioquy.
-Rey Fenix retained the AAA Cruiserweight title, defeating El Hijo del Vikingo in the match of the night with the Mexican Muscle Buster.
-Backstage interview with Guilia who discussed the attack from Blake Monroe. Kiana James came out. Blake to attack both women.
-Backstage segment with Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu and Royce Keys
-Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes segment was done to set up for a non-title match next week.
-Danhausen segment in his mad laboratory with Miz, Kit Wilson and Matt Cardona
-Laney Reid pinned Brie Bella after Brie was distracted by Fatal Influence beating up Paige
-Cody Rhodes and Finn Balor backstage segment were Balor said he came to SmackDown to face him for the title, so go win it again. Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga attacked Balor.
-Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso to become the No. 1 contender to the Undisputed WWE Championship
