Taijul Islam, who bagged a fifer during first day’s play, remained wicketless on the second day. While Hasan Mahmud (3) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2) shared 2-2 wickets each on day 2.

Earlier in the match, Kagiso Rabada created history by becoming the fastest bowler to complete 300 wickets in test cricket in terms of numbers of balls bowled.
Rabada’s spell of 11-4-26, along with Wiaan Mulder’s 8-4-22-3, and Keshav Maharaj’s 16.1-4-34-3 restricted Bangladesh to only 106 in first innings. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top run-scorer for the hosts with 30.
Verreynne’s 114 and a 119-run partnership with Wiaan Mulder (54) provided South Africa an upper hand in the test.
