In the previous retentions before a Mega Auction, RCB has been guilty of committing a couple of mistakes. The next cycle is very important for them as they have to win a trophy. Ahead of this cycle, the management must avoid a few mistakes, taking a cue from the previous editions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three mistakes RCB must avoid ahead of IPL 2025 Retentions.
1) Releasing Rajat Patidar
A few reports shockingly claim that RCB will release Rajat Patidar into the auctions. It will be a big mistake, similar to the one they did with KL Rahul a few seasons ago. Rajat is a future superstar and RCB will find it very hard to get him back at the auctions.
RCB must retain Rajat at any cost. It is difficult to get a good batter of spin in the middle order. Especially with the way he performed last season, he is very much needed for the side.
2) Retaining Faf du Plessis
Retaining Faf du Plessis is one of the mistakes RCB must avoid before IPL 2025 Retentions. There are a few reports which suggest that RCB is all set to retain Faf du Plessis before the next season.
Firstly, it is the right time for RCB to move on from Faf. He is 40 and is form will only decline from now. Anyways, his price will not exceed INR 10 Cr. Hence, it does not make sense for the franchise to retain him now. Of course, if they really want him, they can get him in the auctions.
3) Investing too much money in Mohammed Siraj
Siraj is one of the best pacers in India. However, RCB must not rely too much on him because his form in the T20 format has dipped.
Instead, the franchise must divide the purse accordingly between Yash Dayal and Siraj. This will add balance to the salary sheet.
