Cricket West Indies has that the services of Dr. Desmond Haynes and Mrs. Ann Browne-John as Lead Selectors have come to an end after a remarkable career as lead selectors. Dr. Haynes assumed duties on 1st January 2022, and Mrs. Browne-John since October 2019, and both have made positive contributions to West Indies cricket during their respective tenures.
CWI’s Director of Cricket, Mr. Miles Bascombe, gave great appreciation for their dedicated service, citing invaluable insights and unwavering commitments toward the sport. He noted that Dr. Haynes and Mrs. Browne-John would continue to make valuable contributions toward the sport, adding CWI was keen on tapping into their expertise in different aspects.

That’s part of CWI’s wider restructuring process aimed at improving the selection system. The new system will work towards scouting, depth charting, alignment with cricket strategy and human resource management. The change was accepted by the Cricket Development and Performance Committee and is due for approval by the Board of Directors later in the month of October.
Dr. Haynes and Mrs. Browne-John have been behind the guiding forces of improvements to ICC rankings by both West Indies teams—men and women. The leadership between them in shaping the future course for West Indies cricket has been acclaimed a lot by CWI.
The system of selection that is set to come will answer the existing needs of the cricketing landscape, trying to identify and develop talent at whatever levels available. It will serve as a strategy that comes through the legacy of Dr. Haynes and Mrs. Browne-John’s work, making sure continued growth can be had with further success for West Indies cricket.
