the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Indian team will not be travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Due to security concerns, the BCCI has given its decision to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and have expressed their preference for their matches to be held in Dubai.
“This has been our stance and there is no reason to change that. We have written to them and asked them to shift our games to Dubai,” informed a source.
The top 8 cricket teams in the world are going to face each other in this upcoming ICC event. According to the presented schedule, the Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be held in three different cities in Pakistan namely Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi.
India’s participation in this tournament however is not confirmed as of now. Sources indicate that the BCCI is continuing its stand on not touring Pakistan, even though they have consulted with the Indian government. This stand keeps their decision from the last year’s Asia Cup where they were successful in negotiating to shift their matches to Sri Lanka even after facing pressure from host Pakistan.
Reports also conclude that Dubai is coming out to be the frontrunner to host India’s matches of the Champions Trophy 2025. The city has a successful record of hosting high-profile cricket events along with being home to the ICC headquarters.
As of now, the BCCI has not made any official statement related to the participation of India in the Champions Trophy.
