Venkatesh Iyer has been very good for KKR in recent years. He has gone under the radar but he has been very successful with some impact runs. While KKR will be desperate to have him back, since they do not have the RTM Card, other teams will also have an access to sign Iyer. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams which could target Venkatesh Iyer in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Delhi Capitals
It will be interesting to see if Delhi Capitals go back for Rishabh Pant. They do have the purse to make that happen. If that does not materialize, the focus will be to buy one or two good Indian batters at the price they would have paid for Pant.
Venkatesh Iyer is a useful T20 cricketer and will fit in at No.3 for the franchise. If he develops his bowling, that will also help the side in the long run.
2) Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB is one of the teams which could target Venkatesh Iyer in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. The management, in a recent interview, stated that the focus will be on building the Indian core.
In this regard, RCB will have to make some smart signings. Hence, someone like Venkatesh Iyer will be an apt signing for the franchise. This way, the squad will also have a left-hander in the top-order.
3) Punjab Kings
Although PBKS has a big purse, it does not mean that they can get any player that they would want. The advantage could get washed out in pursuit of one big player such as Rishabh Pant.
Hence, it is important to eye some players who could come at a cheap rate. Venkatesh Iyer could be that candidate. At around INR 7 Cr, he will be a top option for the side. He could open the batting with Prabhsimran Singh or even operate at No.3.
