Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi will be meeting former cricketers to hold discussions regarding the country’s domestic cricket system, Geo News reported.
According to the report, around 30-35 international cricketers will meet the PCB chairman on Monday and will give their feedback and suggestions to improve the domestic cricket structure in the country. The expected meeting is being held in light of the recent criticism by fans and former Pakistan cricketers on the Babar Azam-led side’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
In the tournament, Pakistan was knocked out in the group stages thanks to losses against USA and India. After this setback, Babar’s white-ball captaincy also became a subject of scrutiny. Former Pakistan cricketers like Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar criticized Babar’s leadership and captaincy skills. On Thursday, Naqvi shed light on Babar’s future as Pakistan’s captain.
“There is, however, no decision taken so far related to Babar Azam,” Naqvi said.
“I’m only speaking to those former cricketers who are interested in the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” he added.
